We all know that the EU has long forgotten what a democracy is but what is happening in the small Irish town of Lisdoonvarna with a population of about 300 people is beyond pale. The town was best known for its spa until now.
Locals had voted with an astonishing 93% against the proposal of housing 115 refugees in the King Thomond Hotel by the Reception and Integration Agency (RIA). Only a mad man would expect increasing the population of a small town by over 30% with people from a very different culture would be a good idea in the first place. One would assume this would be the end of the story but no. The town is being forced to take them anyways in fears of being labelled “racists” otherwise. The townspeople are not even being told where these new members of their town will be from.
The hotelier had promised if the people voted against this proposal he would back down from signing the contract of housing refugees. He is to gain about 1-2 million euros from the government and has gone back on his word. It is clear that the idyllic town will never be the same as many of these “refugees” will stay indefinitely. It is not hard these days to find negative examples of forced mass migration by the EU. Germany offers a large variety of cities which took in refugees and experienced a high increase in robberies, violent crimes and rapes.
Many cities are now even refusing to take any more refugees as Cottbus did after multiple violent incidents. The newest trend is for charities to refuse services to migrants for scaring off old people and behaving in an aggressive manner. One can but watch with disbelief at what is being forced on the people of what used to be proud independent nation states.
