Miguel C. Luna, a 37-year-old Mexican national, pleaded guilty in May to brutally beating and raping three women over the past three years. This week, Judge David Carlson gave Luna the dose of American justice he’s had coming for some time now.
According to The Daily Caller, an illegal alien received the maximum sentence Monday for sexual assault and battery in Illinois after officials chose to ignore a 2012 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer request. Miguel C. Luna, a 37-year-old Mexican national, pleaded guilty in May to brutally beating and raping three women over the past three years, two of which occurred on a running trail near Joliet as the victims were jogging.
Will County Judge David Carlson sentenced Luna to 80 years in prison and blasted officials for disobeying the detainer request after he was ordered to be deported. “You should not have been in this country,” Carlson told Luna. “The system let the victims down in this case.”
“You were free to do these acts … whether through misguided political correctness or people who do not believe in laws or borders,” Carlson continued. “One thing I can do with the sentence is show that the laws we believe in here, maybe this won’t happen again, maybe that’s a little bit of closure.” One of the victims clapped as Luna was sentenced.
During the trial, Luna confessed to concealing his face with a mask, wearing latex doctor’s gloves, and wiping blood off one of the victims at the time of the crime. Thus, State’s Attorney Mary Fillipitch argued that he would become “a more clever and crafty sexual predator” if he had the chance. Judge Carlson made sure he will never have the chance.
Luna’s case is eerily similar to another which came to a head this week when the body of 20-year-old college student Mollie Tibbetts was finally discovered in an Iowa ditch after a 34-day search effort. Tibbetts was also the victim of an illegal alien who should have never been in the country. She was also attacked while jogging.
Tibbetts disappeared on July 18 after leaving her boyfriend’s Iowa home to go for a jog. For more than a month, federal, state, and local authorities scoured the rural countryside for her, sifting through electronic data from her Fitbit, cell phone, and social media accounts for any clue about what might have happened to her.
On Tuesday, reports emerged in the morning that authorities had found Tibbetts’ body buried under corn stalks in a ditch. The suspect was identified as 24-year-old Cristhian Bahena Rivera, who is an undocumented immigrant from Mexico. He was charged with first-degree murder, with a potential penalty of life in prison, according to Rick Rahn, a special agent in charge for the sector at the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
Tibbetts, who was studying psychology the University of Iowa, had been missing since leaving for a run from her boyfriend’s house in Brooklyn, Iowa, a small town of about 1,500 where she is originally from.
The case unraveled in dramatic fashion on Tuesday as reports emerged in the morning that authorities had found Tibbetts’ body, followed by an afternoon announcement that Rivera had been arrested and charged.
Rahn declined to give many details about Tibbetts’s killing, citing the ongoing investigation and said that her body had yet to be formally identified. He said that Rivera told investigators that he saw her running, approached her and ran along side or behind her, even relaying to authorities that Tibbetts had grabbed her phone and threatened to call the police. He continued to pursue her and then abducted her, Rahn said. [Source: The Washington Post]
With incidents of violence against innocent American citizens at the hands of criminal illegal aliens unfolding on a daily basis, one burning question arises: At what point will the left get on board with President Donald Trump’s plan to curb illegal immigration? What, exactly, will it take?
Will it take one of their own daughters being slaughtered in a cornfield by some illegal immigrant who should have never been here in the first place? Will they want to build a wall then? Will they support the deportation of these violent criminals then? How many innocent young women have to die before something is finally done?
Make no mistake, every single Democratic lawmaker who has stood in the way of enforcing our borders has blood on their hands today.
